Review
This set of sportsmen from Caesar contains a selection of basketball players â€“ a sport about which we know little, so these notes will be fairly brief. The clothing is the usual vest and shorts, the latter reaching a little short of the knees, so to our eye this looks to be the current fashion in basketball as at the time of writing. That is just about it in terms of clothing of course, but it is interesting to note that many of the figures appear to be bald or at least have close-cropped hair, which is perhaps common amongst professional players today.

To our ill-informed eye the poses look really good, with lots of stretching and dribbling. You will note that several of the poses have the ball as integral to the figure, which is fine, but we thought all the poses were natural and very lifelike. As usual the figures are anything but flat, which is particularly noticeable in those dribbling poses here. The figure with no base is perhaps the most dramatic, leaping into the air to take a shot. However the mix of poses means it would be very difficult to represent a full game with two full teams, as many of the players have the ball and few seem to be defending, so this is a selection of poses that work better individually than placed together, which leaves us wondering about the purpose of the set.

The sculpting is very good, and all parts of the bodies and clothing look realistic. There is no flash anywhere, so these men are ready to play straight out of the box. The proportions of these men do look like they are particularly tall, so not only is the unusually high average height perfectly appropriate here, their general proportions â€“ with particularly long limbs â€“ looks right too. While this is not in our sphere of interest, we would suggest this is a very good set of such figures, although far from ideal for depicting a game in progress. Note also that numbers of each pose may vary, since Caesar tend to mix up the actual contents between sets!
