The steamship "Lenin" is the founder of the Kolyma river fleet. It was built in Japan and delivered in disassembled form by rail to Siberia. The Yakut shipbuilders assembled the ship in 1930. In 1931, the polar expedition was organized, which was commissioned to survey the region from the mouth of the Lena River to the mouth of the Kolyma River in order to establish the possibility of short sea cruises along the northeastern coast of Siberia. The crew of the steamship "Lenin" headed by the captain of the distant sea, AP Bochok, coped with the task. Having worked for many years on the Kolyma for transportation of goods from the mouth to the Seymchan goldfields, the steamer "Lenin" was returned to Lena and in 1961 it was converted into a motor ship. Thus began the second life of the ship, which lasted until 1971.
