On the plane, in the collapse of the cylinder block of the M-105PF engine, a 37 mm NS-37 gun was installed. Due to the large length of the gun, the cockpit was moved back by 0.4 m, and the structure and units were also strengthened. The ammunition consisted of 30-32 rounds of the NS-37 cannon and 200-220 rounds of the UB synchronous machine gun. The mass of a second salvo was 3.74 kg. The 37-mm cannon made it possible to increase the distance of opening fire: to violate the combat formation of bombers, 1000-1200 m; on individual non-maneuverable bombers 500-600 m. The Yak-9T was successfully used to attack ground targets.
