Monitor "Roanoke" - a large three-tower monitor, rebuilt in 1862-1863 from the screw frigate of the same name. He did not take part in hostilities; until 1865, it remained in the coastal defenses of Hampton Roads, after which it was withdrawn into reserve. After a short return to active service in 1874-1875 pp. was written off in 1883.
