I-16 - Soviet single-engine piston fighter monoplane 30s, created in OKB Polikarpov. The world's first high-speed serial nizkoplan with retractable landing gear.

The first flight on the prototype was made by Valery Chkalov (test pilot of the State aircraft factory number 39) - 30 December 1933.
