"Vladimir" is a wheeled steamship frigate of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia. Known as a participant in the world's first naval battle between steam ships.
On November 5, 1853, Vladimir, under the flag of the chief of staff of the Black Sea Fleet, Vice Admiral V. A. Kornilov, attacked the 10-gun Turkish-Egyptian ship âPervaz-Bahriâ. The commander of Vladimir, Lieutenant Commander G. I. Butakov, used the ship's advantage - high maneuverability: keeping within the aft course angles of the Turkish ship, the crew fired well-aimed artillery fire at the enemy. The three-hour battle ended in victory: Pervaz-Bahri was forced to lower the flag. The Turkish ship was then repaired, and it became part of the Black Sea Fleet under the name Kornilov.
August 28-30, 1855, sharing the fate of Sevastopol, "Vladimir" was flooded in the Northern Bay.
