The minesweepers of Project 1265, the code â€œYakhontâ€ (according to NATO classification, Sonya class minesweeper) are Soviet base minesweepers, actively built in the 1970s, armed with the Russian Navy, as well as in some post-Soviet countries and third world countries. The construction of the base minesweepers of Project 1265 â€œYakhontâ€ was deployed at two shipyards: Avangard (Petrozavodsk), from which ships arrived at the Northern, Baltic, Black Sea fleets and the Caspian Flotilla, and Vladivostok shipyard, from where ships arrived only at the Pacific Fleet. At present, the Russian Navy includes at least 25 base minesweepers of Project 1265. In total, 13 units of ships in the export modification of Project 1265E were built at the Avangard shipyard for foreign navies (Bulgaria, Vietnam, Cuba, Syria). The period of construction of the project ships (from bookmark to delivery to the fleet) took about two years. As a result, most of the ships lasted at least 20 years: the BT-100 minesweeper served the longest (24 years), and the BT-325 minesweeper the least (15 years). No fleet replacement is planned for these minesweepers, and the service life of the remaining ships may soon exceed 30 years, which indicates the high potential of the ships and the high class of the project.
