The Type 91 was the first multi-series fighter of the Japanese army: 420 aircraft were built between 1931 and 1934. The serial "Type 91" was formed into four squadrons of the 11th Air Battalion, operating in the "Kanto Command" in Manchuria against China. In 1933, the "Type 91" became the standard fighter of the Japanese army in the newly formed units of the Japanese army aviation - Hiko Rentai - an analogue of the European divisions. However, the "Type 91" fighters did not last long in service, in 1936-1937 they completely disappeared from combat units.
