An experimental German two-seat training aircraft, Fokker D.VII was actually a larger version of the D.VII single-seat fighter, but with two seats (a student and an instructor sat behind each other) and with a BMW IIIa engine, rated at 138 kW (185 hp). It was a two-seat unequal-winged biplane of a mixed construction, designed for reconnaissance and observation. It had dual controls. It was clearly distinguishable by a fuel tank, mounted on the chassis with a fairing attached to it, which, according to the designer’s idea, provided an increase in lift. It was put into serial production at the end of the First World War. In total 250 aeroplanes were assembled (in reconnaissance and training versions).
