Heavy Fighter Cannon (ITP) - a prototype of the Soviet aircraft, was developed in 1941 by NN Polikarpov and to protect bombers interception and ground attack armored targets. The first prototype ITP M-1 was built in October 1941. M-1 made its first flight 23 February 1942 with an engine M-107P power of 1650 hp The engine was found unreliable and replaced by M-107A in late 1942. It was reduced the number of arms to three 20 mm cannons. The body was sent to the ran- and flight tests have not been completed. The second prototype ITP M-2 with engine AM-37 and the stirrup synchronous cannons ShVAK built in Novosibirsk in 1942. In December, it was transferred to Moscow, where the AM-37 engine was replaced by a more powerful AM-39 engine (1800 hp.. ), and on the main racks installed wheels smaller (650x200 instead of 700x220 mm). November 23, 1943 ITP (M-2) performed its first flight. During the tests, the maximum flight speed of the land was obtained in the nominal mode - 540 km / h and at first calculated the height of 2500 m - 570 km / h. The afterburner, respectively 600 and 650 km / h. Tests were carried out before the summer of 1944. July 30, 1944 Polikarpov died. Soon we were stopped work on all its projects.
