Motor ships "Zarya" - a series of Soviet passenger high-speed river vessels, which were often called "river tram", "river bus". Capacity - 60-86 passengers, crew - 2-3 people. They were built according to two projects 946 (from 1965 to 1981) and P-83 (from 1971 to 1985) at the Moscow shipbuilding and ship repair plant. Ships of the original project 946 were built just over 40 units. Vessels of the modified project 946A - about 140 units. Since the ship was originally planned for mass production, it was built according to the latest technology of that time, trying to make it as versatile as possible in operation. Zarya really turned out to be universal - it could moor to almost any gentle bank, even if it did not have a specially equipped berth. In addition, its flat bottom made it possible to go ashore to land people on the sand, not into the water, and then go back to the water. These abilities of the vessel made it truly revolutionary in the river navigation of the Soviet Union.
