In 1878, specially commissioned by the gold miner and Siberian explorer A. Sibiryakov, an iron screw steamer Lena of the river-sea class was built in Sweden. The steamer took an active part in expeditions along the Lena River. The steamer was destined for a long life: after A. Sibiryakov, the steamship "Lena" had several other owners. In 1919, the steamer was nationalized, took part in the Civil War in Siberia, and then worked in the Lena Shipping Company until 1959.

The model of the steamer "Lena" was developed as of 1878. Not a very complex model will appeal to both experienced and novice modelers.
