With the outbreak of World War II in Kasyanenko brothers had the idea of â€‹â€‹building a combat aircraft. Housing KPI-5 fighter was a body of revolution elongated teardrop shape with slightly rounded nose part and clearly pointed stekatelem in the rearmost point. This engine layout was intended to provide the pilot the best possible forward view and the most convenient conditions for aiming and firing the front hemisphere. In the nose of the fuselage was installed English gun "Browning" with removable disk magazine for 47 rounds (48 minutes in the barrel), caliber 7.71 mm. KPI-5 was built in the workshops of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute in 1916. The tests began only at the end of June 1917. Flight tests have ended ... when the first attempt at overclocking Syretska airfield. July 1, 1917 after the fall of approach energetic failure occurred. The aircraft in serial production has not been launched.
