Trawler "Navena" was launched in England at Cochrane & Sons Ltd, Selby, for J Marr & Son Ltd, Fleetwood. It was the first trawler of this company to be equipped with a variable pitch propeller and the first trawler in Fleetwood with a transom stern. Departure from Aberdeen on 05 December 1973 at 0330 hrs for fishing in the fishing grounds off the Faroe Islands with skipper James Clarke. The next day at 06:12 am the trawler signaled Mayday for help on the Wick radio wave. "Navena" in a storm was stranded near the Orkney Islands, off Kopinsay Island. All crew members were rescued and taken to Kirkwall.
