USS Osage is a Neosho wheeled monitor named after an Indian tribe. It entered service in 1863. He fought on the Mississippi as part of Rear Admiral Porter's squadron. He participated in the campaign on the Red River, in particular in the capture of Fort De Russi. In 1865, he was part of the blockade of the West Bay blockade to attack Mobile, Alabama.
