The USS Osage is a Neosho-class wheeled monitor named after a Native American tribe. He entered service in 1863. Fought in the Mississippi with Rear Admiral Porter's squadron. Participated in the campaign on the Red River, in particular in the capture of Fort De Russi. In 1865, he was part of the blockade detachment of the West Bay to attack Mobile, Alabama. At the Battle of the Spanish Fort east of Mobile, he ran over a mine and sank. It was subsequently raised and sold for scrap.
