Isle Royale Lighthouse is located in the National Park of the Royal Island on Lake Superior on the small island of Menagerie Island near Isle Royale Island (Michigan). It was built from red sandstone in 1875. In 1913 it was automated. The height of the octagonal tower is 19 meters. It was built with double walls to ensure stability and reduce humidity inside. Inside the tower there is a helical staircase. The building is connected to the tower by a covered passage. The light signal from the lighthouse is visible from a distance of 16 km.
