The armored tractor XTZ-16 of the 1941 model is an improvised fighting vehicle built on the basis of the STZ-3 / SKTZ-NATI tractor, which is lined with sheets of armored steel. The HTT-16 armored turret was produced at the Kharkov Tractor Plant in September-October 1941, and it was also planned to start production at the Stalingrad Tractor Plant. It was used during the battles for Kharkov in the autumn of 1941 and during the defense of Moscow. The last KhTZ-16 was lost in May 1942 when trying to liberate Kharkov.
