During the Russian-Japanese War became clear the urgent need for Russia to strengthen the Russian Fleet in the Far East. Russia ordered 18 German submarines. May 24, 1904 a contract was signed with the firm Krupp to build three submarines and the purchase of 75 torpedoes Schwarzkopf. Spring 1905 has stood out early, Bay cleared of ice, and the submarine start to make trips around the bay, and at the end of March in Vladivostok finally brought torpedoes. Since then, the submarines are no longer just be a virtual threat. May 23, 1911 "Trout" was suspended and deposited at the port, and on May 31 was deleted from the lists of the Siberian Flotilla.
