Set of wooden masts and rails
At the beginning of the 17th century, the Duchy of Prussia made an attempt to create its own fleet. The flagship of this fleet was to be the Red Lion galleon. The ship was built in 1597 in the Netherlands. The ship's armament consisted of 12 cannons on the lower deck; 4 guns, firing stone cannonballs, were located on the upper deck, 2 retired guns - on the bow and stern. There were also 4 falconets on the quarterdecks firing shot. In 1601 "Roter Löwe" was acquired by the elders of the city of Königsberg, appointed by the Polish king as regents under the Duke of Prussia Albrecht II Frederick. Until 1607 it was used in Pillau as a patrol ship under the command of Captain Peter Hinze. In 1608 "Roter Löwe" went with a load of timber to Lisbon, where it was sold with the load.
