Virginia II is a casemate battleship built in Richmond for the fleet of the Confederate States of America. It was named after the first Confederate battleship CSS Virginia, which fought in the Hampton Roads and was later destroyed in May 1862, leaving Norfolk by the Confederates. He spent his entire career on the James River, defending the capital of the Confederation from the threat of attack by the federal fleet. On April 3, 1865, when the Confederate troops left Richmond, destroyed to avoid capture.
