The Tu-22 - the machine "105", the product "A", the product "U", (according to the NATO codification: Blinder [5]) - Soviet long-range heavy supersonic aircraft designed by the Tupolev Design Bureau. Scout and jammer. It was intended to replace the fleet of Tu-16 type cars. Later on, the percussion versions of the Tu-22 were completely replaced by various series of Tu-22M, Tu-22 were discovered before the end of the last decade of the XX century.
The Tu-22 was originally conceived as a supersonic replacement for the Tupolev Tu-16 bomber. The preliminary design of the aircraft that meets this requirement, called Tupolev's âAirplane 105â, was launched in 1954, and the first prototype was completed in December 1957. He made his first flight from Zhukovsky on June 21, 1958, piloted by test pilot Yury Alasheyev. The presence of more powerful engines and the new discovery of the TsAGI Region Rules to minimize transonic aerodynamic drag led to the creation of a revised prototype 105A. This is the first flight on September 7, 1959.
