LKW 0.5t gl van - (Medical, wheelbase 2650) typ460/461 - Wolf BAT LL (Beweglicher ArztTrupp Luftlande = airborne medical brigade, i.e. airmobile field medical unit) was developed as a military vehicle in the mid-80s. The Typ460/461 platform was used because it provides: high off-road capability/light weight (transportable by air) compatibility with NATO aircraft. BAT LL are used: by ground troops, or by landing; as medical support "jump".
