Iltis - (from German - "ferret".) or Volkswagen Typ 183 was the main SUV in the Bundeswehr before the appearance of the Mercedes Wolf (Mercedes-Benz G-Class). Iltis was used in three main variants. One such option is the SAN light truck for medical evacuation. Can be used in three configurations: with four seats when the stretchers are removed; with two seats when the litter is in use: and with two seats when the litter is folded (folded and stored along the sides inside the vehicle). When a stretcher is installed, the vehicle can transport two wounded on a stretcher with a crew of two (driver and medic).
