The Be-8 received the NATO designation "Mole" (Mole) - an amphibious aircraft with an ASh-21 engine of 570/700 hp, the same scheme as the Be-4, an umbrella with a wing on a thin pylon and a short center section, but much larger size and weight. The structure is also metal, with the addition of a landing gear, it is retracted into the side of the boat, and the tail wheel rises into the boat along the second step.
