Several Jasta 14 DR.I's survived into the hot Summer of 1918 and as result had their cooling holes enlarged in-the-field to prevent the engine over-heating. Jasta Boelcke also adopted this practice.A different shape of cutout - and a side shape - are inscribed on the inside of your cowling. These shapes can be realised by careful filing.Cowling design by Mike Swinburne.These enlarged holes are version 'A', slightly smaller and less 'kidney-shaped' than another version.
