The I-16 (TsKB-12) “Sixteenth Fighter” (colloquially “Ishak”, “Ishachok”) is a Soviet single-engine monoplane fighter of the 1930s, created in the Research Design Bureau of the Soviet Aviation Designer Nikolai Polikarpov.
I-16 type 10 - M-25V engine in 750 liters. p., Armament 4 ShKAS, of which 2 synchronous above the engine with 650 rounds per barrel. Take-off weight increased to 1,700 kg. The aircraft was built in large quantities in the USSR, its licensed production was established in Spain. Several copies are equipped with an American engine of greater power, significantly improving the chances in battles with Bf.109 Messerschmitt.
