Yak-9 was the most massive Soviet fighter aircraft of World War II. It was easy to manufacture, easy to manage and obedient. Most pilots and technicians in combat units willfully drowned console bins and flew with an incomplete supply of gasoline. Production of Yak-9D continued until May 1944. All were released 3068 Yak-9D. In place of him went modification of the Yak-9M.
