ZIS-42 - light truck manufactured by ZIL (then ZIS) in 1942-1944. Motor is used to drive the R6 of 5.6 liter capacity. Power was transferred to the rear axle (track racing circuit) via a 4-speed gearbox. Front section with the engine derived from the model ZIS-5. From 1943 mounted a more powerful engine with Zisa-16.
The car was produced mainly as a military vehicle - was used to transport weapons where there were no appropriate roads. Despite this, the car failed to fulfill its plans - it was an emergency, the engine did not provide adequate power, the chassis fared well only in wetlands or snowy.
